This anthology "Out of the Blue Writers Unite" was conceived based on our hope to directly introduce to you some of the well received written works that we have heard in the literary venue of The Out of the Blue Art Gallery, be it poetry or prose. Along with being entertaining, we hope that this selection demonstrates the number of ways in which human beings bond, struggle and prevail in life. The voice of each writer is unique because each reflects a wide range of emotions and beliefs. The writers come from a hodge-podge of backgrounds, reflecting different social, educational, and geographical influences. Challenging topics were ventured into due to diversity in age, gender, sexuality, and mental or physical capacities. Some writers chose very brave subjects to write about such as surviving traumas like homelessness, incest, and living with physical challenges such as being blind or wheel chair dependent. Many of the pieces were selected because of their style of presentation as well as the enthusiasm in which they were received in readings or from the various publications in which they were previously published. Other writers chose selections of a lighter nature for consideration. Please enjoy the amalgamation of creative voices presented here. It's with our sincere gratitude to the Cambridge Arts Council and the Massachusetts Cultural Council, that the Out of the Blue Art Gallery is able to present the "Out of the Blue Writers Unite." Many of the authors are Cambridge residents, some well known, others new. So it is our hope that you will indulge in these selections and that they might inspire you to write and to share your work with us at our Gallery.
